Curious Curios: April 1, 2014 Reveal

It’s Thursday – find out if you were right about this week’s Curious Curio!

751.01_1This Civil War relic was a military hatpin that would have been sewn onto the hat of a Civil War soldier, dating it from 1858 to 1864.  The crossed sabre insignia indicates that the hatpin would have adorned the uniform of a cavalry soldier. The pin is die struck brass, with wire loop fasteners for sewing onto the hat.
